This page contains links to midi files of choral works specially prepared so that one part is highlighted (played prominently) against a muted accompaniment.
How to use this page.EITHER | a) Click on it, and sing along when it starts;
this uses WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER |
OR | b) Right click and "save target
as" in an appropriate folder on your computer, AND use a midi file player
(ideally with a tempo/speed control).
If you
haven't got one, get the excellent MIDIPLAY from here,
or one designed for Karaoke from here
(some files have words included so they get displayed in time
with the music!!). They only take a couple of minutes to download
and installation is easy. |

Problems:
Sometimes Adobe Reader returns an error message "font Opus cannot be found
. . ." If this happens, go to Sibelius
Software and download/install the "Scorch" plugin. I don't know
why this is needed for some scores, but it solves the problem! It's useful to
have anyway.

About me :
I teach physics for a living in Northamptonshire, UK. My school, Northamptonshire Grammar School values choral singing very highly and I support energetically the director of music with the two choirs we operate.
My choral singing started in my hometown of Wakefield, where I sang in the cathedral choir as a lay-clerk, and at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in a madrigal society directed by John Scott - when he was a sixth-former. John now directs the music at St Thomas' Fifth Avenue, New York City.
I still sing regularly in a parish choir - St. John the Baptist, Kingsthorpe, Northampton, and Village Voices - an adult choir based in rural Northamptonshire.
